With dozens of race shops throughout the area, Lowes Motor Speedway is in the heart of stock car country. Over the years the Lowes Motor Speedway has undergone many changes, including the addition of the Smith Tower, a seven story facility connected to the grandstands. Enjoy the thrill of the race with 150,000 of your closest friends. Experience the pulse of the engines and get an up close look at the drivers and their cars with a visit to Nextel Cup garage or pit road. You can also take a tour ride on the track, where you can feel the pull of the 24-degree banking. Events at the speedway include: the Race of the Outlaws, the Goodguys Southeastern Nationals, and NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship, along with numerous dirt track events. The Speedway is home to the Food Lion Auto Fair, one of the worlds largest, that will please all car enthusiasts. Cars and exhibits from over 50 car clubs will be on display with vendors from all over the country. One of the highlights is the collector car auction where you can bid on the car of your dreams.

In addition to the races and events, there are several driving schools available. Choose from the Richard Petty Driving Experience, Jeff Gordon Racing, Dale Jarrett Racing, and many more. They also offer the Teen safety course, 'XTreme Measures', where teens not only receive great driving instruction, but life-saving safety tips.
Camping sites are available at the Speedway the week of a race or event, starting at 0 per site. Luxury campsites are located nearby at the Fleetwood RV Racing Camping Resort, with reservations required. There are several car clubs throughout the Charlotte area, and each offers a variety of events each year. Clubs include the Corvettes International, Carolina Cougar Club, Queen City Vette Club, Carolina Stampede Mustang Club, the Carolina Camaro Association and many more.
